On Monday, Feb. 5, a two-alarm fire broke out in the 600 block of Shore Drive in Harford County displacing a family and damaging two other neighboring homes.
All residents were able to escape safely, though several pets perished, and while uninjured, Shelbie LeBeau and her 20-year-old grandchild lost their home and all of their belongings, according to a friend who is rallying support from the community.
"Please help us help these two amazing people in the coming days and weeks," Beth Edwards wrote.
"We all know insurance can take a long time to pay out a claim and there is an urgent need for many belongings to be replaced immediately, as well as vet bills for the surviving pets."
In the days following the fire, nearly $3,000 has been raised, as donations continue pouring in for the family.
"My mom lost her home and everything she had on (M)onday in a terrible house fire," her daughter posted on Facebook while sharing the GoFundMe campaign. "She is starting over with nothing and taking it one day at a time.
"All of her memories and things over the years are now gone, along with two cats who passed away in the fire," she added. "If you know my mom at all then you know she has the biggest heart and is always doing what she can to help others in need."
"Any amount is deeply appreciated," organizers of the GoFundMe added. "Whether or not you're financially able to donate, please keep this family in your prayers and share this campaign to your social media pages."
